Combining Indoor and Outdoor Living: Closed-in Verandahs

Closed-in verandahs combine the pleasures of outdoor living with the comforts of indoor living and are often preferred to traditional open verandahs due to:

  1. Restriction of insects and animals
  2. Reduced plant debris, dust and dirt
  3. Enhanced/greater privacy
  4. Keeping pets from straying
  5. Extra protection from wind and rain

The photos below show two different options for a closed-in verandah. The home in the first photo has the verandah closed in with panels of fly screen which is a great option if you want to maintain natural air flow. The second photo shows a verandah closed in with windows and glass panels. This option not only looks smart, but it is perfect if you wish to take advantage of any surrounding views.
